‘Tis the season for hail storms, whether we like it or not! Hail damage can really put a damper on your fun. While some hail storms sneak up on you out of nowhere, there are some preventative measures you can take to protect your vehicle from hail damage. Here are three ways you can protect your vehicle during hail season.

1. Invest in a hail cover for your vehicle – or use some blankets in a pinch.

Hail damage ain’t pretty, and it’s not totally unavoidable, either! There are several vehicle cover options on the market right now designed specifically to keep the hail from hurting your car. It’s definitely ideal to have an actual hail cover for your vehicle, but if for some reason that’s not possible, blankets will work in a pinch! Make sure to use as many blankets as possible and ensure that the side windows are covered as well. The more blankets, the better!

2. Check the weather forecast before hitting the road.

Thanks to smartphones, we now have access to worlds of information right at our fingertips, including the weather forecast! There are so many weather apps available to download, and most phones come with one pre-installed. Checking the weather before setting out on the road is a great habit to get into; not only can you make sure you’re not going to run into any hail, but you can make sure you’re wearing the right shoes for the day, too!

3. Consider getting insurance just in case you experience hail damage.

No matter how well you prepare, sometimes hail damage just happens. When it does, you want to make sure you have a solid insurance policy for your vehicle; it’s always best to check your policy before you end up needing it. If you have yet to get insurance, it’s not a bad idea to look into it. During hail season, it’s especially important to double-check your coverage. Contact your provider and make sure hail damage is covered – it could make a huge difference in the future.
