Spring is all about fun and games and being outside. With everyone cutting loose, it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re driving defensively on the road. Your safety and the safety of others is the most important part of driving. Here are 3 tips for safe spring driving.

1. Do a double-take before changing lanes.

As the weather gets warmer, more people want to bask in the sunlight. Make sure you’re checking your mirrors as well as your blind spot at least twice before moving into another lane. Motorcyclists are out on the road more frequently, which means it’s crucial to double-check before switching lanes on the interstate. It can be easy to miss a motorcycle in your rearview mirror. Be safe and look twice!

2. Tailgaters? Just let them go.

If someone is riding your bumper, just let them pass when they have a chance. Tailgating is infuriating, and it can be very tempting to retaliate by brake-checking or doing the same to them. However, brake-checking is illegal, and it’s incredibly dangerous to try to fight back at a tailgater. It’ll save you and those around you from a potentially fatal accident.

3. Stay focused on the road.

Amidst the beautiful scenery and text message invitations to outdoor celebrations, spring is full of distractions. Before your foot presses the gas, put your phone on its “do not disturb” setting and avoid picking it up before you’re safely parked. Distracted driving is just as dangerous as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Keep your eyes on the road ahead!

This spring, we here at RV Transport Life highly recommend keeping these safety tips in mind as you hit the road. We’re always here to provide information, advice, and resources for RV transporters. Be careful, drive safely, and enjoy your summer journeys!
